Well yes, I was being overly simplistic (given it was quite late and I was'nt really focused). But it is true to say that the Thatcher Government waved the "Buy British" flag whilst hammering the nails in the coffins of certain industries, a legacy that continues to this day. The banks get bailed out 'cos they were allowed to get into a position of dominance to the extent that any Government, Tory, Labour, is practically in their thrall and in the meantime industry is allowed to wither and die.
