The same thing happened to the British drum'n'bass DJ Grooverider a couple of years back - a miniscule amount of hash was found stuck to the bottom of his shoe and he was given a four-year sentence (although he managed to get an early release, possibly due to his relative celebrity granting him access to the best legal counsel available).
You can also get a mandatory four-year sentence if traces of cannabis are found in your urine or blood, even if it was smoked before entering the country - not to mention the myriad prescription medications and even over-the-counter ones which are also illegal there.
Suffice to say, I wouldn't risk going there in a million years, even just to change planes.

What really annoys me about Dubai and other wealthy arab areas- I've said it once, I'll say it again too!- why don't they give some of their wealth to help some of their 'fellow muslim' countries in Africa- it's always in the UK that we're bombarded with 'campaigns' and charities either on TV or in magazines to send money, we need to help ourselves for once!!

The Saudi royalty is particularly guilty. They love exporting their shit interpretation of Islam to starving people, while living in obscene opulence themselves.
