Killing Animals

A recurring theme in discussions about vegetarianism is the disclaimer that anyone who can kill an animal themselves for their own consumption is somehow exempt from criticism. Now, there may not be the element of hypocrisy involved, but let's not forget IT STILL INVOLVES THE SLAUGHTER OF AN ANIMAL, which, under current circumstances in the more prosperous nations of the world, is unnecessary.
