State of confusion. another 30 billion
Nov 03, 2009, 21:57
Can somebody here help me. i'm a labour supporter. i'll never vote to keep tories out via stealth, i'll always vote for labour.

stay with me on this.

how can i justify my position as a labour supporter in this day and age when yet another 30 billion goes to the banks.

i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but i would have thought that that would be just about it then yeah? political suicide?

as i say, i stopped buying a newspaper three years ago due to being continually incensed but i listen to Radio 4 in the mornings to keep semi abreast of the political situation.

i've told you my political beliefs and duly don't expect the shit to be ripped out of me, so if there are any folk out there want a dig, have a dig at me some other time yeah? i'm smarting enough about the catastrophic mess our country is in as it is.

what's actually left to be proud of amongst all the shit? is my question and please can someone explain to me why another 30 billion would seem like a good idea when i see the fat cat fuckers driving out of London in their Scuderia Ferraris and Porsches every evening...

Ditto from this side of the pond. Obama promised change... but has Wall Street insiders running 'reform' on said stock exchange.

Bailouts going to the people who fucked everybody. I thought that with free market capitalism if you torpedoed your own boat you were supposed to go down with the ship?

It's very obvious that the financial system is run by cynics who know that most of us don't really understand their game and so they can alternately milk it, and then come to the 'rescue', on a rotating basis, ensuring that they always win, even as everyone else loses.

What a racket, eh?

Whilst I agree with your argument what do we do in Scotland and Wales with our four party systems. By voting SNP, Alex Salmond is my MP at the moment, in much larger number we might knock over a few Labour seats to let the Tories in thru the back door. The same might might happen in Wales with Plaid Cymru. So up to Labour to get it's act together in England!

You must be quite old to remember the depression, just joking! Independence is coming sooner rather than later, I'm not SNP, but believe in independence, I've never been thru that before!

"i'll never vote to keep tories out via stealth, i'll always vote for labour."

Sorry but there are times when not voting labour is the only way to keep the tories out - and by the same token there are times when slavishly voting labour WILL let the tories in.

I was thinking more of the wisdom of voting for the lesser of two evils to be honest. The same debate keeps cropping up here.

"Vote Labour. You wouldn't want the Tories to get back in would you?"

"Vote Democrat. You wouldn't want the Republicans to get back in would you?"

"Vote for Nasty Nick. You wouldn't want Jade Goody to get back in would you?"

"Vote for Napoleon. You wouldn't want to see Farmer Jones back in would you?"

I suppose voting SNP puts you outside the normal political wheel, but only in the same way that sticking your dick through the letterbox puts you outside the house.

I feel much the same, Shelby. I wish there was a way to make the Labour party return to something resembling socialism.

I'm outside the normal political wheel, there must be a lot of people living in Scotland/Wales with their, as you say, dicks thru the letterbox. The point I'm making, perhaps, if the people of/in Scotland should be left to sort out the banks with their HQ's in Edinburgh, a lot of them are far to big for their own good e.g. Formula 1 sponsorship, we might not be in the mess we're in, obviously a lot of the top brass are making a wad whilst the people, you and me, rescue them with our tax money.
