Giantleech, you say you are a successful record dealer, with a collection worth more than a house. You also say, in comparison to your “primary profession,” that your record dealing is a hobby, so I assume you are making even more money with your “real” job. Congratulations.
However, earlier you wrote, with regards to health care, that,
“Your other option, which is how it should be, is to pay for your own health insurance policy (as an independent contractor, this is what I have already been doing for years now.)”
But what about those Americans who do not share your financial comfort zone? For a capitalist society to function, it NEEDS an underclass. (After all, if everyone is well off, who is going to be picking vegetables for you, who is going to be cleaning the floor?) What about those with low-paying jobs that cannot afford health care? Are they just supposed to get sick? Should the “best country in the world” really be that uncompassionate?
