I think you make a strong point. Broadly speaking, across Europe the centre-Right seems to have prevailed and the Left, including Greens, have not done well.
From a domestic viewpoint, I think the key to defeating the BNP is not to resort to mild terrorism, nor try and rubbish their candidates...just simply tune in with the electorate, ..and ensure their needs are being addressed.
The BNP is a fringe organisation...and even with 1, poss. 2 MEP seats, it is hardly a national threat. The media/online attention they receive, I believe, is entirely disproportionate...they could easily be defeated by main stream politicking in the UK.
The main reason people are voting BNP is beause they feel the main parties are not representing them...and that can..and must be addressed.
