Merrick maybe extrapolated a bit... but not all that far. Savage can be seen as a buffoon, but the fact is that he and Coulter and Rush and the rest of that ilk are taken seriously by millions of people. It doesn't matter that they represent the smaller fraction of the total population... people who believe in rule by force, and act on it with shrewd zeal, usually go pretty far before they are challenged and taken down. These are the people that were instrumental in putting Bush in office twice. They can't be casually dismissed.. they have an agenda and the will to impose it.

You really think that's all down to Coulter et al? I doubt it somehow. Some people have tendencies by default. In some cultures, as you recognsie yourself, that can happen for different reasons. And remember the Chad was in part to blame for Bush the first time round;-) x

No, I don't think Coulter, et al, are the foundation of right-wing American throwback-ism, but they are enthusiastic amplifiers of that creed. They serve to reinforce and energize all the 'outrage' and disdain and sense of superiority that the right holds dear.

Sorry me duck, didn't mean to misquote. But i still think the better intellect doesn't always win out in the media. Far more people read Littlejohn than Johann Hari.

Y'know noting Savage, I noticed on You Tube he's attracted the support of the BNP because of the ban. I'm quite sure Savage must enjoy such company...
