zappa the soothsayer!
Apr 12, 2007, 14:04
This is probably well known, but just in case

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HljzEXJvj8

Mainly there defending freedom of speech, but wait for the killer line regards the threat of his own country and the 'fascist theocracy' (he's saying this in '86)
Dunno who the freaks are he's sitting beside (I'm sure our U.S friends will).
Whatever you think of the man (I adore much of his music, but recognise he was a bit of a dick too), he sure knows what he's talking about. And jesus he can talk!

Funny watching all these right wing pundits obsessing over 'the advocacy of incest' in lyrics... they seem to have nothing else on their minds!

Love it when Zappa turns to the nasty little slug and tells him to kiss his ass. Right on.

Do you knw who these guys are, or what this show is? I read somewhere the Loftman (sp?) one thinks himself a liberal now!
What would Frank have done today?

Yeah I know! I was just wondering if they're well known in the U.S! I've watched this a billion times now, it fascinates me so. We've got Letterman and Jay Leno over here, but these twats are a different league!
Fear not though, we have our share of dickheads too...

Robert Novak is the only one there that I recall seeing before, besides Zappa, of course.
This is one of those political talk shows that usually airs on Sunday afternoons here in the States.... Crossfire, the McLaughlin group, etc.

This clip you posted is certainly one of the more feisty episodes.

There's one I notice from a year later on the page too.
I haven't watched it yetI(n B&W and in two parts) but oh dear, the world needs someone like Frank right now!
Isn't he just incredibly funny too, tho.
'Let's froth'!
He gives these bastards no consessions!
