Why is Blair hanging on, and on...?
Feb 06, 2007, 22:22
This is a pretty "heavy" post, dealing with a really heavy subject, so forgive me in advance for bringing it up. My excuse is that maybe information like this could somehow have a positive effect in some shape or form, and that if one believed something awful was going to happen to a large number of innocent people, it would be wrong not to at least try to warn them.

I have a terrible answer to my own question about Blair. I think I know why he's hanging on. I hope isn't too depressing, or outrageous, or even frigtening. Well, I believe he's clinging to power for one ghastly reason; to do one final service for his Lord and Master, George Bush. That final service, a valuable service, will be to back and support Bush when he gives the reckless order to attack Iran.

This massive bombing campaign will possibly involve attacks on two to three thousand individual targets, lead to massive destruction, and given the scale of the action many, many thousands of civilian deaths. Some American militarty strategists have even put the possible figure as high a one or two hundred thousand! On top of the hundreds of thousands we've slaughtered in Iraq since the invasion, around half a million, is a defenceble estimate, and around one to two million deaths in Iraq during the long and horrible seige... Well, how does this make us look to Muslim world? If there a lots of Muslims who are really appalled and angry with us, well who can blame them? What does all this senseless killing say about us and our culture? We go halfway round the world to kill, what have we become? What are we becoming? Who are we as a people? Why did we allow Blair to drag us into the bloody slaughterhouse of Iraq? How can we morally allow the fiend to amass a fortune of over twenty million pounds, after he leaves office, when he's complicit in so much shameful death and destruction?

It really appears that against logic and spitting in the face of commonsense, and dragging morality through the mire, that we're really going to do it again, lauch another unprovoked attack on a Muslim country once again based on a foundation of lies and distortion. What makes it grotesque is that the same liars that lied us into the invasion of Iraq are doing it all over again, only this time with Iran. Before the lie was weapons of mass destruction, that did not exist, this time it's Iran's nuclear weapons that don't exist. They must really have concept for us in the extreme when they roll out the same story again, only bothering to change a few words here and there!

Remember how we were told that Iraq was literally full of terrible weapons of mass destruction, ready to threaten the World, the biggest threat to world peace since the Nazis! It was all a lie. We only attacked Iraq because we knew they were on their knees after a fifteen year seige and their army had vertually ceased to exist. We only attack countries that can't really fight back. Take North Korea, they have actually developed a couple of nuclear weapons, are getting ready to attack them? No, because they could fight back with nuclear weapon or two. So we won't risk it. But Iran is different. We choose to attack them now, before they have the ability to defend themselves, by possibly developing their own nuclear deterent and making any attack by us very costly.

The worst thing is, that even this horrible bombing campaign, bloody, brutal and inhuman, may just be the first act in something far, far worse.

What happens if Iran fights back with the conventional weapons they do have? Iran has relatively large army. It could attack American warships in the gulf and might even manage to sink a few. How will the Americans respond to this? How will the American public respond and react? After 9/11 they were ready to follow Bush anywhere and do almost anything in revenge for the terror attacks on New York.

Iran is also allied with the Shia in Iraq. They haven't been fighting the Americans in Iraq, it's been mostly the Sunnies. But what happens when the Shia see the Americans bombing the hell out of Shia Iran? Britain has a real problem as well, we won't be on the sidelines just watching. The British army is in Basra close to the Iranian border, surrounded by hundreds of thousands of armed Shia militia soldiers. The main supply route runs through Basra up from Kuwait for the whole of Iraq. So, cutting this supply line would be an obvious target for an Iranian counter-attack. The british army in Basra is very vulnerable to being overrun and possibly destroyed in a full scale war with the Iranians and the Iraqi resistance fighters.

Given that we simply don't have enough troops on the ground in Iraq now, dealing with only a few thousand mostly Sunni fighters, how on earth will we manage against a massive Shia uprising and the Iranian army? How will we tip the balance of forces back in our favour if this whole thing goes really wrong? Remember we're still being led by the same bunch of incompetent, bragging, buffoons that so successfully dragged us into Iraq. So given their proven track record of disaster, surely it's reasonable to conclude that this new war will go terribly and tragically wrong too?

I realize this is rather depressing stuff and I'm sorry for bringin it up, but surely we owe it to the british soldiers in Iraq, who aren't profitting from this war, to at least think about what may happen to them if we take part in an attack on Iran, no?

Anyway, how do we make up for our lack of troops on the ground if we get into a war with Iran? Unfortunately I believe, and so do many others, that we could decide to use nuclear weapons against Iran, rather do that than risk seeing our armies in Iraq overrun. That is the nightmare scenario. That this coming attack escalates into a full-scale war, and then a nuclear conflict.

I'm not saying this will definitely happen, only that all the signs are there if one looks, that we're gearing-up for another war, and the risks it could get out of hand and turn into something truely terrible are real.

Can the attack be stopped? I think the only way to stop it is for the American congress to remove Bush as President before it's too late. What are the chances of this happening? Not too good, especially if we're only a few months away from the planned attack. These things take time. What can we do in Britain? Well, if we really care about our guys in Basra, forget about the poor Iranians for a minute, if we do care about them and their welfare, Blair has to be kicked out, one way or another, by any means necessary, and the army brought home forthwith. Because Blair will follow Bush into the valley of death with that ghastly death's head grin on his stupid face, as surely as the sun rises in the east every morning!
