pmm. i once was a volunteer for the zapatista movement. i have traveled throughout the various regions of mexico which have led me to a great love for this country and its people. it was after my travels that i joined this pro-zapatista movement.

there was a time when we were to go down to chiapas with the hopes of bringing in supplies such as batteries, flashlights, medical supplies and such. the day before we were set to leave, we heard of several massacres that happened in this area and the borders had been closed off. needless to say, our trip was abruptly cancelled..

nonetheless, i have followed the movements of these people, including marcos....and i am entertained to see and article such as this.

in other news,.....happy solstice/holidays and new year to you PMM and everyone else.

Thank you BYB!

Marcos and the Zapatistas are a breath of fresh air in the usually dour class struggle. I first became aware of them through an article in the Guardian. (can I find a link?)

Yup. Naomi Klein writing in 2001
