the Universe Next Door

I know a few of you read Robert Anton Wilson, and various magick/pagan things get discussed here alongside the eco/direct action stuff, but no-one has ever talked quantum physics or any kind of new science stuff in relation to or in balance with all the rest of it. Any scientists out there who could fill us in on Bell's Theorem or the Everett-Wheeler-Graham model? I've read R.A.W, and did physics to A level, but never got as far as quantum physics n stuff, so would be interested in the opinions of any who have delved...

All right DoOD?
got a degreeish level in meta-physics...heard a rOomer about this near death research going on in the States...they reckon that out of the the people that were observed dying they all lost exactly 5kg's of weight regardless of body size or frame ! Where does this 5kg's go, they just can,t work it out? There are debaites about weather this is actual eveydense of the human spirit leaving the body . Which brings in the possible discuvery of a differen't realms of reality beyond ours which has its own type of matter. Could this b what our neolithic dOods were aware of in their shamnic world ! A fist full of shrooms can get me there!
Just thought u mite b interested in such mindless RoOmer banter type STuff?
We R all here 2 go!
cheers dOod from a frustrated philosopher of thee saddest Kind;o)

my physics is afading memory but if you think about e=mc2 i.e energy =mass x speed of light squared. this could account for the weight loss. the energy/spirit whatever you wish to call it was contained as mass but on death leaves as energy and so there is a decrease in weight of the body left behind. that is only a caroline theory so beware......
what I liked about quantum physics was that if you could travel faster that the speed of light you could wave to yourself accross the street. maybe in different realms the speeds are different who knows..

The waving at yourself across the street thing.
Sounds like Ketamine to me.
Nasty stuff....but you can exceed lightspeed

exactly, maybe the drugs change your speed and put you in different realms. but it can happen without them I assure you!

Oh yes....I was just relating the comment to a personal experience.

I too am facinated by the whole Quantam thing, but alas, am too mathematically inept to apply any degree of knowhow to it.
Mind you....I used to dig it when the Flash used to get around to alt-places by "vibrating" at different speeds. One way to get there I guess!

Big subject. I think about it a lot. Heres me theory in quick form.
I'm a Kabbalist with other leanings stapled on, and have spent a bit of time coding Quantum Theory into my general view of the universe.
Quickie Kabbalic Creation Theory: Everything came from nothing. Between nothing and everything was a point of confusion (daath). This point of confusion relates directly to what some theoretical physicists call the 'field of possibility' or 'probability'.
Think about 'Nothing', No light, no mass, no gravity no time. Therefore, no rules. Infinite possibility, ultimate potential. Therefore, 'Everything'shouldn't be a surprise. So No rules -> point of confusion is no real great philosophical leap either. And once the point of confusion makes a single er... 'decision' then it limits the decisions it can take from the root decision. each decision, or evolution, in turn limits the options of subsequent decisions and evolutions.

If anything exists, the number 1 has to, and if 1 exists then 2 is required to contextualise etc, etc.

The further you get from the point of confusion (daath), the more yr in the ordered, mass governed, gravity sucking, light exposed, time constrained, ordered perception of the universe that we all bounce about in.

BUT, Daath is still there. In everything. Particles, the quantum level of the universe are in everything, and they have no rules, just possibilities. So Daath is still in everything, ticking things over on the sub atomic layer.

To me. We. humans. Souls, whatever, act as points of perception for the universe to contextualise itself with. That's r job. The ultimate mission, to me, is to become a god and go off and build yr own universe based on a different root decision from nothing.

Pagans and all r cool. I have a lot of time for anyone trying to see the bigger picture, but I'M NOT ONE. hmm.. To explain. E.G A pagan/wicca type is driving thru the universe in a glorious and gorgeous wooden VW camper van that they picked up second hand from a cool group of fellow occult adventurers (with mad sparkles in their eyes). Driving on predefined routes, set by the theology to which they prescribe. The engine of the van is powered by the knowledge of those who went the same way. Jetting round the planes of existance going 'yaw! cool, I'm part of this, and it rocks'.

Whereas my VW Camper van I built myself from whatever was in the junkyard of comparative theology when I turned up, and my engine is directly injected wiv quantum theory. NNNEEEAAWW!! and I'm bouncing round the universe in no particular direction going 'Wow, look at that, why's that there, and how can I make it better.'

Both Camper Vans are shamanic tools. It's just mine doesn't have 'routemaster' on the dashboard.
It would take a lot more to explain where I'm coming from. but the basics are everything comes from nothing, everything is an expression of nothing, all roads lead back to the same source, 'nothing'. Break anything up enough, you'll get to the quantum level where anything is possible. So magick per se, is getting back to Daath, tweaking things a bit and then seeing what evolves out of it.
Study any system, the more complex it is, the easier it is for Daath to 'talk' to you thru it.

Hehe need a good 40 pages to fully explain meself. But here's some other things/theories from modern physics that r well worth thinking on.

The speed of light is looking like it hasn't always been a constant since the start point of the universe (not as scary as it sounds, sorts out a lot of long term theoretical headaches that one)

90% of what the universe is 'made' off cannot be measured. some of it is getting called 'Dark matter' and some of it is being called 'Dark energy'. Whatever, it's 'nothing'. Dark matter & Dark energy and their interaction seem to be responsible for the 10% of the universe that we can actually deal with (well, 'deal' as in we can apply symbols and measures to it).

What d'ya know everyting is coming outta nothing.

Hope that makes some sorta sense.

Exactly, this closely resembles my my 'chaos theory' of a few years ago -look closely and the whole world is in constant turmoil in spite of us striving to achieve a sense of peace and order. But as long as we do not accept chaos and nothingness as part of our lives we will never get over it. This nothingness is a godsend, but it is also precisely the 'nothingness' that is the root of all our miseries, as very often fear of the unknown, the unordered or the un-understood keeps us away from our roots and is the primal cause of ALL conflicts. What's worse, we are detached from ourselves so in most battles we are often fighting the 'unknown' that is ourselves. So let's not confuse the conflict/chaos in nature with the conflict/chaos by humans. The latter comes from Fear, the former is Energy, though not always does conflict/chaos in humans come uniquely from Fear. It can also be the manifestation of their ancient drive to commune with the stars and to freak'n'roll.

That's also why the current New Age definition of 'pagan' is incomplete and inmature, as it *only* regards nature in its most placid state (not the heavy metal mother) without ever bothering to dig deeper and find the underlying 'nothingness' and 'chaoticness'. Needless to say, religions have a clever way to go around this aspect by filling the gaps of this 'mystery' with Allah's or Christ's Will.
