I thought it best to come clean, and frankly the logical inconsistencies of the position I was pretending to take are what was wearing.
Honestly, do you think a rational, decent person could possibly hold these thoughts in their head at the same time:
That the war in Iraq might have some good end.
That George Bush is a terrible president, but not a fascist
That the USA, who invented slavery and nuclear war, could possibly acheive ends which were positive.
That the unprovoked wholesale slaughter that the US has perpetrated in Iraq could ever have any justification?
That there is, in fact, ever a time to fight for anything, for any reason?
Do you really believe a person could be critical both of George Bush and the left at the same time? Or that a person could be to the left in the political spectrum and think that it's OK to fight a war, even against a fascist dictator?
These are all demented positions.
The US is clearly wrong in virtually everything its done since its inception. You would have to be a blindly patriotic right-winger to not see that. If it weren't for nations like the UK, Canada, and Germany, we would all probably still be living by 18th century standards.
