The purpose of that question was this: I would like to hear suggestions as to what should have been done about Saddam Hussein that do not involve time travel. I haven't heard any practical suggestions, just the assertion that since the US at one time supported Hussein (which I acknowledge was absolutely wrong, and which many people who have been aware of it have decried all along, this is not a matter of controversy between us) that it should have left him in power.
Should he have been asked nicely to either stop doing awful things or to leave the country? That was tried, and dragged out for years.
Or should he have just been left to do as he liked?
The answer to that question should not have anything at all to do with George Bush, or what American policy toward Saddam was 15 years ago.
