Once again, US marines have tried to wipe Al Jazeera journalists; a French cameraman films a tank shooting straight at the hotel where other Western journalists stay; BBC correspondent in the hotel says there was no shooting from the hotel (as the US declares). One journalist is killed, several injured, Reuters office also destroyed. "Al-Jazeera said its correspondent Tareq Ayoub died and a cameraman was injured when two missiles hit its office, virtually destroying it. Reporting from Iraq is fraught with danger US military officials said the building was struck by mistake. In November 2001, American warplanes mistakenly bombed the offices of the same broadcaster in Kabul, Afghanistan during the US-led campaign to oust the Taleban. "It is something we all regret. But I don't believe that it is possible that it was deliberate," US State Department spokesman Nabil Khoury said. "

Hmmm, they accidentally hit the al-Jazeera offices with *two* missiles? That's particularly unlucky. Still, luck isn't with the US military, there's a history of these unlucky accidents. Not only did they accidentally bomb al-Jazeera in Kabul, but during the NATO bombings of Belgrade that were condemned by the Chinese government US planes accidentally bombed the Chinese embassy. When American planes bombed the Libyan capital Tripoli in 1986 they were denied use of French airspace for the attack. The French embassy in Tripoli was accidentally bombed in the raid. Senior al-Jazzera journalists are openly saying the Pentagon is behind the hacking that has sabotaged the al-Jazeera english language website. http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,924469,00.html Or is that just another accident?

They didn't hit the Al-Jazeera base with a missile. Abu-Dabi TV showed pictures of a tank firing on it from 100m away!! See my Press Removal Machine post for my theories ...
