Boscawen-un

this has been posted to the Stones list ... <sigh>

is it just me who's getting pissed off with psuedo-mystical wannabe wiccans? Quite frankly, they can take their brightly coloured trousers and crystals to somewhere where they won't cause any damage

errghhueghghhgg

no offence meant to genuine, sensible, non-site-damaging folk ... read on ...

Last night someone who seems to have been very aggressive, and perhaps a
little crazy, lit a fire against the inner face of the quartz stone at the
west-south-west side of Boscawen-un stone circle in west Cornwall. The fire
was burning for about two hours and was of gorse which burns hot. I went
there, with two other locals, last night after a phone call. The stone
appeared by torchlight to be badly scorched and a blackish brown staining
covered a large part of the face of the stone. Far more worryingly the
surface appears to have cracked and fractured; we could see a splintering
effect. Obviously we hope that the damage looks less severe by daylight.
This has already been reported to the police but they may only take action
if English Heritage want them to do so. This time we have witnesses!
Please can those of you who do these sorts of things send healing energy to
the stone and the circle. Please pass this message on.I'll keep you posted.
