Opinion?...yes, that is my opinion just like your comments are your opinion which happens to be incorrect. Jeremy did claim to create Geocaching and it was even seen on several news stations with him doing this. It is also listed on several newspapers...his comment was "I coined the term Geocaching" to be exact...what would you call that? Must be a family member of the Irish family huh? Don't worry...your 30.00 you invested is going nowheres.

A "Trash cache" is exactly that... Some people place caches just for the sake of placing a cache. There is no creativity to it and I have seen several people post caches (Mostly in California) where they would take something as simple as a Yogurt container and toss a scrap piece of paper in it and call it a log book, then place it anywhere they cross... no planning, no creativity, just trash in the woods. One fellow placed a cache and even posted about it saying he was hiking and while on the trail finished a soda he was drinking, he then dropped a pencil inside the bottle with a piece of paper and placed tape over the opening and tossed in in a bush, he then took a coordinate reading and submitted it as a Cache. This was approved by Geocaching.com as a legit cache. Navicache.com deleted the page as it was just trash. Geocaching.com has a very large number of caches submitted and that is exactly what Jeremy likes to see, it's the number and not the quality. He talks about "Cache in and Trash out", but he doesn't even realize he is the main reason trash is getting into the parks and lands, there is no proper policing of the cache submissions. Mr. Uhlmer mentioned this same thing (true creator of Geocaching) and for doing this in Jeremy's forum he was banned and membership deleted.

There are several things you are incorrect about, I will point out a few just to show you do not do your homework before posting. Not being able to say "Navicache" in the forums is in fact true...you say it has to be reviewed first right? okay, lets test that... go into Geocaching.com and make a post saying something like "I just found a neat new Geocaching site called Navicache.com" and see how far that gets you, Yet you can go into the Navicache forums and say Geocaching.com all day with the Mods sitting right there and no action taken as long as you are not rude. Secondly, "Quinn" was a member of the original Sci/Geo news group where this all started even before Jeremy walked in, so with Navicache in place now, and Geocaching starting in that news group with everyone having expressed interest how can you say Quinn would never have even heard of it...he was right there! Did you watch the ABC news story on national TV in the US? Quinn and family did a great job promoting the sport. Jeremy in his own forum voiced his anger that Quinn never mentioned Geocaching.com in the whole story, and only pushed his own. Not once was the word Navicache used. When Quinn Replied that he did his best to push both sites on the news and that they were edited out Jeremy had nothing to say. How many times does Jeremy mention Navicache when he gives interviews? Not sure why you find it so hard to find caches in Germany on Navicache. Go to the main page, click link that says "Caches" and then scroll to Germany...how hard is that? Germany does not post on Navicache because they have a forum already in place. But if Navicache was not so popular in Germany then how come on the German official Geocaching site does it list everything "Navicache" above Geocaching.com? Here is the German link to that site... http://www.geocaching.de/ You can see all the Navicache icons above Geocaching icons. BTW, it was posted by the German admin of that site that he does not like the way Geocaching.com has gone so commercial, thus the reason why he is telling people of Navicache. Remember...Bigger does not always mean better.

Hmmm...not much use? Better sat images, free, better cache icons, free, Buxleys maps, free, Non commercial, free, no censorship, free. If it wasn't for a second Geocaching website you all would have been paying full membership fee's at Geocaching.com Competition is what keeps prices low in this world. You can bey your arse that if Navicache.com ever drops out you will be paying to look at cache pages.

Sorry for the delay in replying, as I'm still getting used to the format of the forums and I'm missing replies and references to my name. A Trashed cache is one which has been taken from its origional location. Usually by people who stumble upon it and remove it. Some caches are trashed by people who are genuine, and take it for the reasons that some of the TMA people have mentioned. Others trash them just to vandalise them. I've had one recently where the contents were strewn around the area, so any suggestion that this was a concerned citizen removing litter falls on the fact that they threw the contents around the area (BTW - Before anyone asks, this was not an Antiquarian site). Many Geocachers remove trash, or litter, from the areas they go to. But I think the litter/not litter arguement has been done to death already. --... ...-- Morseman
