Just back from a walk along the beach at Redcar with my gf, where what at first appeared to be a beach thronged with rockpoolers turned out to be a petrified forest, checking online showed that it's only been exposed by a big storm just a week ago and had last been to this extent in c1870. About 7000 years old, it apparently forms part of Doggerland. While the petrified forest at Ynyslas near Borth has stumps of greater height, the root systems are in much better state of preservation at Redcar, with the old forest floor. Will add as site over on TMA and go back to get some better pix when fewer peeps about. Very well worth a look for anyone in the area.
