Hi Carol, I'm no expert (see: thesweetcheat, gladman, Carl and postman) but did spend a splendid long weekend on the Gower Peninsula about five years ago. Loads to see there - the Gower Way has the sea both sides. Cat Hole Cave Paviland cave (of Red lady fame) Worm's Head Rhossili Down (and beach) Sweynes Howes Maen Ceti (a must) And loads more. Must go back - a magical place http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3528/gower_peninsular.html tj x

Love, lazy Carol xx PS I am looking up sites but tend to get a bit bamboozled! To be honest there aren't, in my opinion, any sites I'd call classic in the immediate vicinity of Carmarthen, although Merlin's Hill is well worth a visit: Merlin's Hill: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/7640/merlins_hill.html However if you're prepared to drive a little way out you've lots of stuff to NE around western Mynydd Du.... e.g: Carreg Cennen: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3120/carreg_cennen.html Tair Carn cemetery: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/12941/tair_carn_uchaf.html ....and to the NE you've untold stuff in the Preselau and , as Tjj said, The Gower to the SE These are a couple of hidden gems worth searching out, too: Twlc-y-filiast: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2234/twlc_y_filiast.html Gwal-y-filiast: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2316/gwalyfiliast.html

Some great suggestions there. The Gower has some great chambered tombs, mostly easy enough to get to: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/111/maen_ceti.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/14497/nicholaston_long_cairn.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/6295/penmaen.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/107/parc_le_breos.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3543/sweyne_howes_north.html If you're prepared for a longer trip then there are some brilliant, easily accessible chambered tombs in Pembrokeshire, for example: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/113/carreg_samson.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/112/carreg_coetan_arthur.html http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/116/llechydrybedd.html And a fine stone row: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/118/parcymeirw.html
