Well we'll have to try and do something about that biggest loss in 2018

A pretty sparse year for me. I need to get out more as there is so much more to see. I guess I'll just have to drag my eight-year-old out despite her protestations. Her mam recently told her that she'll thank me for it in the future. So Skregg was a little gem on a weekend in Athlone: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2454/skregg.html I don't get to this vicinity often and couldn't find it the last time I was here. It's in the TME book as is really rather special: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/2014/cleenrath_or_cleenrah.html A shout out to Sheemore, my most (not very) arduous trek: http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/5998/sheemore.html And a happy stone-laden new year to everyone.

Carrowkeel for me, not just 2017, any year ever, closely followed by Cromeleque da Portela de Modo. For 2018 I can't wait to get an opportunity to discover the Beara Peninsula and back up to explore some more of the Scottish Isles, so much to see, so little time

Don’t mind at all! Didn’t get to too many ‘old stones’ last year - mostly ‘modern’ medieval stuff! So I will pick

I think I went for her - it was the most magical week. It is a wonderful elemental place with small stone circles, wedge tombs and standing stones almost all within sight of the sea. We stayed in Glengarriff though maybe Castletownbere would have been a better choice. I was very sad to leave, it felt like I was leaving my mother behind. Probably won't go back but the place will always stay with me. Go!
