Hi Roy, I think the result was that the mound wasn't prehistoric.
I'm not sure what the conclusion was in terms of how it got there, although I do seem to remember something about waste from the road, as you've mentioned.

I will try to find more info.

Can't find much relating to the coring itself, but this is interesting.
