I'm heading back to Stanton Moor next week, and I wondered if there was anything else to look out for that isn't on my tick-list? So far, I'll be visiting... Stanton Moor 1 (stone circle) Nine Ladies (Stanton Moor II) Stanton Moor III Stanton Moor IV The last two are ring-cairns, I've visited these before. The Cork Stone The Andle Stone Doll Tor Rowtor Rocks rock art. All of those (except Stanton Moor I) I've visited before, and they're all in walking distance. I wondered if there's anything else on the moor, of if there's some detailed maps on line of the area? I've got the book Rock Around The Peak, and it's a fab little book, but I wonder if there's anything around that's more in-depth about Stanton Moor's megalithic delights? (I'll be camping at Barn Farm in Birchover, so stuff like Nine Stones Close will be a little too far for walking). Cheers!

Love Julian Cope's review which starts ... "Finally, I’d like to embark on a chant of ‘Motherf***er! Motherf***er! Motherf***er!’ to author Andrew Johnstone, whose exceptional book THE PREHISTORIC PEAK has, in just under 200 pages, damn near exhaustively described all of those mysterious and much battered ancient megalithic monuments located in that weird triangle between Manchester, Sheffield and Ashbourne. Having taken exceptional pains to visit monument sites even where all remains had been removed, Andrew Johnstone has finally pulled aside the Information Smog which had, for far too long, hung, across this quite remote area ....." By Dol Tor. http://pecsaetan.weebly.com/dol-tor-standing-stone.html By Rowtor rocks. Ask Rachael at Rocking Stones farm for permission first though, she usually lets people up if they ask. if you don't then be prepared to be kicked off as soon as the dogs hear you. (just follow the windy drive around and uphill till you reach the house) http://pecsaetan.weebly.com/bradley-tor-rocking-stone.html You'll probably have to negotiate brambles at both sites so no shorts. :)

You staying around Sunday? it's very possible that i could pick you up and take you over to nine Stones close and the other sites in that area if you'd like?

Like the look of both of these, the standing stone is a new one on me.
