Stick a pair of headphones on and listen to this little Radio 4 programme about cows, the peaceful, cud-chewing beasts which have transformed societies back into prehistory. Not always so peaceful though.
Apparently the words chattel and capital come from cattle as cattle were once, and still are in some societies, a measurement of wealth. Movable wealth ie. chattels.
