I had some old children's encyclopeadia's, also very Edwardian, although not Arthur Mee. They fascinated me 60+ years ago, then my stupid mother thought they were old fashioned and threw them out!
I can still recall the style of them, intended for middle class children of that era, and reading them was a bit like living in the EE Nesbitt and JM Barrie age.
