I was reminded of my visit to Lamborough Banks in the Cotswolds ...

My field notes say it was around the Spring Equinox 2011 - it stayed in my memory for being not only being one of the longest barrows I've seen but also covered in wild violets (both white and violet). Quintessentially English.

Not to leave Scotland out I should mention the Ring of Brodgar which really did induce a sense of euphoria. The day had started off shrouded in heavy mist, which cleared into a crystal blue sky and loch. Lots of fragile heather growing within the stone circle.
