Re: Winter Solstice Plans

Today's the day most people celebrate and I have seen some lovely photos - though clearly not taken this morning which was dreary. I always think winter solstice is a state of mind and it can happen at any time around this period. It happened for me last Saturday - I was travelling down to Brighton from where I live in Wiltshire. I packed the night before and set off early by foot for the station. The sun was coming up as I walked through the town centre lighting the mundane with a temporary brilliance. I caught an earlier train than planned to Reading, the sun had by then woken up the Uffington White Horse. There was time to organise a Danish and a cup of Earl Grey to take on the train for the next leg down of the journey to Gatwick. Watched the beautiful Surrey countryside slide by in the bright winter sunlight. By the time I reached Brighton I was in a very solsticey frame of mind.
