ANNOUNCING THE FIRST DERBYSHIRE MEET
OF THE STONES MAILING LIST
Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October 2000
All welcome, not just list members

Saturday 30th September
Sunset 18:48 BST
7:30pm onwards... meet to drink and/or talk at The Vaults (pub) function room,
Coldwell St, Wirksworth, Derbyshire
Including a talk and demonstration of Stone Circles - a Photographic Tour CD ROM
by Tom Bullock, astronomy lecturer over from California. (10 years of work,a Macromedia tour of 500+ stone circles and rows in the British Isles), with copies for sale on the night at GBP20. More details and a preview at http://www.megalithic.co.uk/cd

Sunday 1st October
Sunrise 07:11 BST
10am (Prompt if you can!) Walk with our guest archaeologist, Chris Jones. Meet car park below Robin Hood's Stride (227618) on the B5056 for visiting:

* Nine Stones Close (226626)
* Robin Hood's Stride (224624)
* Mediaeval Hermits Cave & Neighbouring Cliffs / Views (227625)

12pm Break for lunch

Reconvene for 2pm prompt on road (careful parking on Birchover road, between
Birchover and Stanton in Peak; the Oundle stone should be clearly visible to
the west) for
* Doll Tor Circle (237628)
* Oundle Stone (240630)

Reconvene on Lees Road, east of Stanton in Peak, north of the sites of
interest, parking on the right hand side (246642)
3pm till end (whenever that might happen!) Sunset 18:46 BST for
* Stanton Moor Multiple Locations
(Including Nine Ladies Stone Circle; precise locations subject to
archaeologist's preference!)

Evening activity subject to individual wishes and availability!
