The museum is basically a large shed with finds of all ages including a carved stone (http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/61719/knowlton_henges.html) which came from a barrow at Knowlton Henges. He much prefers people to book in advance, (I have his number at home somewhere) but was very generous in allowing me to wander about his museum when I turned up out of the blue one day about 5 years ago... If you go, take a picture of the giant phallus, I didn't and I regret that muchly!!
Is it an 'official' museum as I was wondering how it is he got to keep a carved stone from a barrow if it's private?
Define official and pass.
;)
I was just curious as I didn't think you were allowed to remove artifacts from a barrow then put them on display unless authorised from an official body, which presumably he has been. I suspect I'm talking gibberish but it just seemed a bit odd if it's a private collection.
