Well they do say the population of Rhynie is getting older.

Spose I'd better answer my own question. As I believe that at Avebury the Great circle/Avenues/Sanctuary/Silbury Hill are all part of the same setup I would go for it there. Phew that's some undertaking but what fun doing it and whilst doing so find out what else lies hidden underground!! What would you say to the suggestion that the dissembling and restoration of an ancient monument would transform it from time honoured prehistoric remains into a modern facsimile and thereby disrespecting it in origin and rendering it inauthentic? Whilst I know your proposal is a fun suggestion EH have to comply with statements of authenticity and cultural landscapes in respect of the Stonehenge and Avebury WHS and I am not sure it is widely known.

Yes purely for fun VBB but I should point out that I never mentioned dissassembling anything, just excavating and rebuilding into position parts that were missing and found, which is significantly different to dissassembling. I hope others didn't think the same and that I was some sort of a moron!! Good God I'll be standing on standing stones next!!:-)

...EH have to comply with statements of authenticity and cultural landscapes in respect of the Stonehenge and Avebury WHS and I am not sure it is widely known. Maybe that’s because they’re still running a burger bar at Stonehenge, had the hare-brained idea of a time capsule at Silbury and somehow didn’t have enough clout to stop five new houses being built a stone's throw from Avebury’s north-east quadrant. Then again I may be missing something ;-)

When you say "unlimited power", do you include time travel? LOL..No, I thought my question was daft enough as it was, but you can if you like!! :-) What a hard question! It's so difficult to choose! I think I might try to find out what the post holes at Stanton Drew were for or whether the stones at Arbor Low were ever standing up. Whatever I chose, I's use the power of archaeology first then use my time machine to check how accurate we were!

I like that idea Emma :-) We had a Time Machine topic once before and I don't recall who it was now, but one of us chose to land on Waden Hill on the day they finished Silbury and then watch to see what they did with it afterwards. Liked that one too :-)
