Wonder if anyone else watched this last night. Though dealing primarily with ‘Roman Britannia’ the episode did touch on some interesting non-Roman aspects. The site by the Thames for example where 97 baby skeletons were found (and where it's thought they may have been victims of infanticide practiced on the site of a brothel) now has a new theory - ie that the place was a birthing centre and that the dead babies were those who unfortunately didn’t make it. Also the Whitby jet which, while the Romans were here, was worked into Roman-style jewellery, but which quickly reverted to more ‘native’ styles once they'd left.
