It looks like the the new info and dates from the 2008 excavation show the earlier Tratman interpretation regarding the contruction sequence to be wrong and three new RC dates from charcoal in the ditch give dates (one was 2920-2870 -cal BC ) suggesting Late Neolithic hence putting the monument into the formative henge category .
Do you know how that compares to Stanton Drew? I can't seem to find a date easily from work.
I'm guessing its considerably earlier than the two smaller "classic" henges on the Mendip plateau (Gorsey bigbury and er the other one (Hunter's lodge?))
Sorry I don't know of any date for Stanton Drew , are there any ? .Gorsey Bigbury is more of a "classic " date 2400-2060 BC .
Not sure tbh. I think they worked out the sequence for the main circle/henge inc the wooden circles when all the geofizz was done. Maybe all the dates were comparative...
