Have a cup of tea and go and think about something else for a bit. It'll be fine I'm sure.

Hi Rhiannon,

As with every forum I've ever seen, the definition, or perception of a "Troll" by definition has to depend on which point of view a person supports. The definition will change with every change of subject being debated.

I've witnessed so many Troll accusations on other forums which are really only simple differences of opinion.

It's all down to whether a person can accept criticism. My view of forums is that as they are so anonymous, it is very easy to label anyone who doesn't agree with a person as a Troll, and if enough people are on the same side, then it tends to become accepted. Next time that person posts their opinion they are labelled as "The Troll's on here again." I've seen it so many times.

In my opinion, Trolls exist, but rarely, however, differences of opinion are common.

People have probably thought that about me, I've no doubt.

My opinion of a Troll is someone who doesn't really have a strong opinion on any subject, and isn't interested in hearing other people's opinions on a subject, they just want to wind people up.

All the best,
TE.

For me a Troll is somebody who picks on others for no good reason.
I posted information about the blue badge scheme at Avebury (Developments at Avebury thread) which I had just Googled and got myself called a sock puppet. 'charming. This sort of behaviour is not exactly pleasant, is it?. Put my back right up. I thought we was having a pleasant talk about Avebury but it seems others had other ideas.
I have no doubt that my actions after that regarding those people could be called trollish and with justification. But I have seen enough of these types to know I want nothing to do with them anymore. So I will say goodbye and good luck.

Hang on jackyboy , I thought you showed some restraint , and wondered why , in not reacting to the accusation at the time .Maybe , like me you didn't know what it meant .Why decide to go now ? It may appear to some that you are leaving because you have been rumbled and if you are not a what you were accsued of being stand up continue to post and it will become apparent that the accusation was unjustified and you may even get an apology .I must admit that ,after learning what a sock puppet was , I did consider it possible but don't any longer .Mud sticks but does wash off eventually .

Thats for that it's appreciated. I have been around long enough to know what it meant and I was offended. Nothing I had said or done deserved that. Knowing about or googling a subject is no reason for being attacked.
I happen to love the Avebury area and so thats my main concern. Well that and Stonehenge. Stay or go. I will see.

Good man , please stay .
