New series on BBC1 (4 parts). Just started in the SW and includes a few minutes on Dartmoor (about 15 mins in), particularly one of the last remaining pieces of woodland, which is representative of how Dartmoor was before the bronze age clearances. Also a lovely helicopter flyover of Down Tor row and cairn circle (yay!).

Matt Baker picks up a large shard of early Iron Age pottery - excavated by a badger. Great little programme. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00thmm9/Secret_Britain_The_Crowded_South/

Still don't believe in the hedge-dating technique though (my Dad used to work from that basis, but it seems far too random to be accurate).

A man walks into a pub and says "Why does your face look like a horse?" No, hang on... that's not right! ;) Deja vu!!! :D I've been watching that, too. Made me think I really ought to get on one o' them guided tours of Salisbury Plain one day... Also noticed a fleeting glance of a stone row with a circle at the end - where was that? Didn't look like Merrrivale to me but might have been. Seems tonight has been a bit of a night for it! Apparently "The World's Squarest Teenagers", or whatever it's called (about some Amish kids coming to England to sample how kids should really act, or summat) were taken to Boskawen-Un and (what I think was) Halligye Fogou (I didn't actually see it but might do to satisfy my curiosity!) G x [Edit: I ought to add that my "pretend" failed joke at the start of this is a play on 'Why the long face' rather than suggestive of anyone's equine appearance. ;) ]

G x A good first episode I though, easy going sunday night tv. I reckon there will be more treats in store before the finish.

Yep indeedy! Sort of follows the Coast format of everything being all-too-brief, but at least you get to see more places, I guess, so you can investigate further for yourself. G x

Hahaha! I had read your post, but bizarrely, I didn't put 2 and 2 together and thought you were referring to something I'd missed! Nutter. I told you: spend too much time round the stones and you go a bit mental! ;) G x

The "Rocky Valley" near Tintagel looked interesting. Was that ancient rock art or something more modern? Peace , Lubin
