Dude, you started this flare up by replying to a post from Resonox from July last year. The bitterness had gone away...

juamei,

You're quite right. I saw the thread as a new one, as someone else had added a post, and as it was highlighted I assumed the thread was new. I was wrong. As I l ooked into it, I saw that post from tjj, saw the reaction from Resonox, and replied as if it was a new post. However, even though I know it's a year old, but I still hold my views.

Apologies for digging-up old dirt, it was unintentional, yet my fault entirely.
Regards,
TE.

In light of that i must add, i stand by everything i've said.

I lost a young nephew to a drunk driver and i suspect someone here has a drink driving conviction on their license, i won't go into detail, unless as i have, the others involved are going to come out of their anonymous closet.
Everyone knows who i am as i don't hide behind a pseudonym.
If i'm banned for this so be it, let this place become a whore pit of links for self promotion, i'll never change my style of posting for anyone, especially those that bully women anonymously.

I'll now leave it in the hands of the mods.

Ahh – that’s great Nigel! We’ll be sitting outside (there’ll be a Heritage Action poster on the table for anyone who doesn’t know us). You can pass through Ingatestone on the way, The Church of St Mary with St Leonard in Broomfield (with its amazing puddingstone) is not far away, and the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall at Bradwell-on-Sea is within striking distance for the early starter.

Happy Ēostre!

Forgot to say that the Church of St Andrew at Greensted is only about half an hour’s drive from the Viper Pub. The church, “...is the oldest wooden church in the world, and probably the oldest wooden building in Europe still standing...”. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area today!

I'd love to forgive him in person. ; )

Reported!

Sorry, Resonox, but you started all this with your unnecessarily aggressive reply to tjj. Some people have been affected by drink driving, and a simple plea isn't offensive. I don't drink and drive, but I accept people reminding me not to.

If anyone should be "reported" it should be you in the first place, not megadread, but I don't see any point starting crying to those in charge, and anyway, why make things worse?

I accept that you didn't like megadread's reply, but an action often results in an equal and opposite reaction.

Let's leave it and move on.

There is so much bitterness on this forum these days, and most of it is about trivia. And, yes, I have been involved too, so I am not innocent, and don't claim to be.

Personally, I wish everyone a happy, successful, and site-filled meet. As far as driving goes, I'm sure you'll all be sensible, and remember the words of Jimmy Saville: "Clunk-click every trip, jangle jangle, jewellery, jewellery, say hello to Mr.Cigar, well how's about that then."

I'm passionate in all i do, as those that have met me will testify, and yes, i tend to go for the throat when someone i hold dear is (imo) being abused.

I upset people quite often, with my style of posting, that i accept, but it's never personal, though it may seem so, and i'd never apologise for who i am or what i'm perceived to be, via forums.

I do not hold grudges, i will walk with anyone, share info freely, as i have done many times in the past, and whether it be Resonox, Nigel or littlestone etc, those i've crossed swords with in the past, i still extend the offer of a meet up if in my neck of the woods anytime, all forum history forgotten.

I doubt the Eds haven't gotten round to this thread yet, and the reports, but despite my future tenure here this offer is always open, to everyone, contact e-mail is in my profile.

Geoff.

Excellent little meet (though the Viper had sold out of half its real ales and all of its ciders and perries by then :-(

Some good stony stuff discussed. Next beer fest there is over the August Bank Holiday, so watch this space for the next Essex minimeet update :-)

Oddly enough i was just driving back from St Peters on the Wall on saturday (having spent the afternoon there larking about on the sands)when i got a "tweet" from heritage action pointing me towards that really good little article (link further back). Very interesting, it wasnt one of you folks who wrote it was it by any chance ?

Thanks Mart – seemed appropriate for the time of year.

St Peter's really is a special place isn’t. The sort of place that’s very welcoming – whatever you believe in (or don’t). Pity you couldn’t make it to the Minimeet at the Viper. Maybe see you at Megameet in Avebury on 17 July instead?
