On a light note ... where would we be without humour. Did anyone see Bellamy's People last night. Quite near the beginning he visits Wayland's Smithy. Bellamy meets Jason Laughing Waters I didn't watch the whole programme but received a text from a friend asking me if I knew this person.

HAHAHA! I met people like that One caveman turns to the other and says, whats the point? We exercise every day, all our food is organic, the water is pure and there's no pollutants in the air, all our clothes are made from natural sources, and we only have a lifespan of 30 years....

Yes, we saw that - we love Bellamy's People, just like The Fast Show but without the tailors, Chanel9, and Ted and Ralph. (In fact it inspired us to get out the old Fast Show DVDs again.) Simon Day's caricature of a stinking old crusty hanging out at the stones was superb. They got the caption wrong, though. They said Wayland's Smithy was in Berkshire.

Hi Jane - dunno if you know, but it started life on radio 4 - as so much of our great comedy does - as "Down The Line". Check it out! G x [EDIT: Here ya go! http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/presenters/gary_bellamy.shtml]

Also for Jane - you may be interested to know that Jason Laughing Waters was also filmed for a segment at Dragon Hill (Uffington, for anyone who doesn't know!) which can be seen by pressing the red button during Bellamy's People in episode 7 or 8. I believe that, due to the torrential rain, they couldn't use the shot in the actual episode! Don't ask me how I know. ;) G x

If I'm honest I always vaguely thought it was in Berkshire too, rather than Oxfordshire - and as you say, historically it was. The Jason Laughing Waters clip is no longer available but there is a photo of him here at the bottom of the page.

Also, it seems I misunderstood the Dragon Hill/red button thing. I thought it was outtakes but it's a spoof "making of" - very funny though! Well worth it! G x
