Hello - just a quick thought about your fieldnotes, WF. 'TUMULUS' in capitals (or anything in capitals like that) usually means it's roman. But then again there aren't many roman tumuli about (they were probably copying the natives anyway. there's some at stevenage by the roman north road).
Magic doesn't show it as a listed monument, curiously. I had a quick look.
