Re: Circles under churches

When I lived there in the early 90's it was the Shark bar but I think its changed name now.
It is literaly under the arches on the right side of the pier.
You have to get into the cellar to see the large stone.
It took me ages to get permission but we played a gig there one night and needed to store the instrument cases so they let us into the cellar.
Local library books said it was the stone that stood on the beach and its where Brighton got its name.
Bright Helm Stone.
There are stories about smugglers using it to stand behind and wave lanterns to guide smugglers in.
While in Brighton check out the fountain with the dolphins that is on the levels directly infront of the Pier.
There used to be a stone circle and the stones are now huddled below the bronze sculpture.
Further along the levels the churches are worth checking out.
Hove park is worth a visit as there are some stones there.
