Yes, I've found churchward said to be an adjective meaning towards the church although I can't find anyone but Emmie using it. Even if it didn't exist she might have used it as a classic example of poetic license I suppose. Grays Elegy uses churchway-path and that appears elsewhere but probably meaning something more specific, a church path or a burial path.

I'm fascinated to know what she meant by churchward as it could be that she reckoned the ashes were deposited to the north of Silbury on the way to Avebury. Why would she have that idea?
