Ancestral Geographies of the Neolithic - Mark Edmonds.
An Archaeology of Natural Places - Richard Bradley, and
The Significance of monuments also by Richard Bradley.

Language as well for celtic times, the rich mythology that has been passed down through the Mabingon, and Dindshenchas, prehistory is also caught up in that as well;

and for the historical overlay; Hoskin's the Making of the English Landscape, though he is pretty early..

Its probably a state of mind that is needed to visualise the relationships that happen within a landscape, perhaps sometimes our modern day interpretations are off kilter......
