I eat more fish than meat. I only fly fish. I catch all my own fish. I only catch Scottish Trout (Brownies and good overwinteered Rainbows) and Salmon (okay some of the Salmon swim back home from a wee soujourn off the Grand Banks). However, I am off tomorrow to catch American Brook Trout in a Highland Lochan which fills a corrie on a high upland pass straddling the border of Perthshire and Argyll. The American Brook Trout are the naturalised Scottish Passport-Holding descendants of a single stocking from the 19th century by a local landowner, antiquarian, natural historian, painter, poet and all round renaissance man.
My freezer is now home to a mere three fish from last Autumn so the re-stacking of the shelves must commence. On Friday I will be going out with a fast sink line presenting a diorama of Cats for large three and four year old overwintered Rainbows. They are very popular in my house (and at my school).
Everyone should eat more fish.
