Re: The Rock N' Roll Memoir

Mark Manning (Zodiac Mindwarp) published a series of autobiographical memoirs "Fucked By Rock", "Collateral Damage" and "Crucify Me Again". All highly entertaining in the full-on warts an' all, shite and onions style he honed so beautifully in "Get Your Cock Out". Manning also co-authored "Bad Wisdom" and "The Wild Highway" with Bill Drummond, both of which deal with the Rock and Roll experience... albeit refracted through a nightmare tinged scatalogical lens.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bill Drummond's "45". A very honest tome.

"This Wheel's on Fire: Levon Helm and the Story of The Band" was a birthday gift a few years back. A great read though partly ghostwritten. Couldn't put it down.

"Diary Of A Rock'n'Roll Star" by Ian Hunter. First rock'n'roll book I ever read way back in the 70's. Kinda honest straight-up road-trip-rock-tour memoir of early 70's where survival included scrabbling about the floor after gigs looking for dope dropped by fans.

Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung by Lester Bangs. Read it.
