Does it seem odd that Abba is being inducted (by The Bee Gees, no less) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Monday night? To me, they seem more like a pop and disco group than rock. But then again I read in Wikipedia that the inductees are chosen by individuals like Jann Wenner and rock biographer Dave Marsh rather than other musicians and the fans don't get a say in the final choices either.
I personally would like to see the Hall of Fame represented by more punk acts like The Stranglers and The Buzzcocks as well as post-punkers such as Joy Division, Julian Cope (both solo and with Teardrop Explodes) and Echo and the Bunnymen.
