I knew he wasn't well, but nonetheless very sad. R.I.P Micky. Keep on crinting where-ever you are now.

Oh fuck. I kinda knew this was coming but its still like a kick in the guts. He was easily my favourite musician of all time and will remain so. Found this: http://www.terrascope.co.uk/Features/Micky_Jones.htm

R.I.P. indeed Just got in from work and had an email about this- very sad indeed. My older brother and his mates used to be playing the Man albums all the time- which is how I first heard them in my early teens. I liked the way they did all the rock/blues stuff merged together with the more spacier and melodic tracks and passages. My brother and his cohorts once had a memorable backstage party with Man after a bash in Cardiff once. Was listening to "Be Good To Yourself..." only a fortnight ago

Yeah, it's a bummer. Although I've only heard one thing from Man which sounded a bit too much like the Doobie Brothers for me. Of course I might've listened to the wrong album...

Not entirely unexpected, but very sad nonetheless. Funnily enough I was just listening to "2 0z of Plastic With A Hole in the Middle" a couple of hours back. One of my favourite guitarists, in league with John Cippolina and Tom Verlaine - in fact, very probably the missing link between the two.

They did have that rootsy, beer-guzzling side to their music, certainly - but there was more to them than that. They could also do whacked-out psychedelic space prog or rock as hard as Sabbath when the mood took them.

Many are called...and now it's poor Micky's turn. Another great and distinctive musician leaves us, albeit with a fine recorded legacy for us to remember him by. I last saw Man play a stunning two hour+ set to about fifty people at the Whitley Bay Dome in 2001. Micky and Deke were on fine form, trading riffs and lead licks like blood brothers - but the real highlights came when Micky slid that bottleneck on that vintage SG to make it sing like an angel. Unforgettable. Thank you, Michael - and rest in peace.
