Re: KISS

Good points, although I do genuinely like the music (most of it anyway) and they work for me just as tunes. They're not my fave band of all time, (believe it or not) but they do hold a special place in my heart probably occupying similar territory to Star Wars or something like that.

I agree that the live thing is their natural environment and I expect they would agree with you too. They've stated that they wanted to be on stage the band they would like to see on stage and why not?

I know they are regarded as cash guzzling beasts but they really don't need the money anymore. And, being gentlemen of a certain age, it must be bloody hard work doing shows like that with all the kit and caboodle. Yeah they make dosh, but I think they like being onstage and being KISS and it seems people like watching 'em do it too.

I think maybe they are a bit too 'silly' for some people and yeah, some folk have a problem with silly or at least don't think in belongs in Rock. But "Owap bop a looma a wop bam boo!" is completely ridiculous when you take it at face value but it still rocks.

Also, there seems to be this either/or thing with KISS. Like, how can you like The Smiths (for example) and like KISS? I have actually had to explain myself on occasion regarding that! As if liking KISS somehow de-creds your critical faculties and impinges on your other tastes. Never quite understood that. It's like saying liking a Spider-Man movie somehow means you can't enjoy a Peter Greenaway film.

Anyhoo each to his, hers and its.

Phew - you don't get this saying you like Joy Division ;^)
