Well that's interesting thanks, but I notice Merrick has avoided answering my question about backing up his statement. The Protection From Harassment Act is used on a day to day basis in domestic matters, which surely by its very nature is likely to be more common-place? I normally avoid posting on this board, partly because I've read Merrick's replies to anyone who dares disagree with him, but that shouldn't mean he can get away with what I consider to be a misleading statement. Unless, of course, you can back it up, Merrick?!

Ah, I see your point now. I couldn't find any recent stats but in 1998 over 5000 people were 'proceeded against' under the act and the identified circumstance categories sound a lot more like the traditional perception of stalking so I doubt the abuses like the ones pointed out in the Guardian article are statistically significant compared to that. It's still immensely annoying though, but it was nice to see the judge cited in the article was similarly unimpressed with "TLC".
