Absolutely, someone who is serving a life sentence for manslaughter and attempted rape, committed when a man, sounds like someone we should "keep a stern eye on".

you're right there. But are you suggesting that being in a different prison and, when eventually released, being under the scrutiny of the parole board is different from being in the *same* prison and then released on parole?

If not, then why would you want them to stay in that same jail, except for reasons of vengeance?
